Haji Maqsood Ahmad, one of the very first industrial distributors of Caltex in Lahore is a well-known name in the lubricants Industry. He started his business in the year 1970 by opening a small “Lube Shop” near Lahore Railway Station. The lubricant business in Lahore wasn’t very much customer-focused at that time, and realizing the window of opportunity to establish customer trust as his USP, Haji Maqsood Ahmad switched his focus to Industrial lubricants and started selling lubricants to different small industries. Later he changes the name of “Lube Shop” with “Umar & Company”.
Haji Maqsood Ahmad got industrial distribution of Caltex in the year 1991 due to firm faith in its quality products. He played a vital role in introducing Caltex in the Small & Medium enterprises in the industrial areas of Lahore, Sheikhupura and Kasur.
After getting the distributorship, his first major break came from Gulistan group of Industries, who were using competitor products for the last 10 years. It took Haji Maqsood Ahmad a great deal of efforts to convince them to use Caltex products. Caltex products turned out to be great success in Gulistan and enabled Haji Maqsood to win the entire lubricant business of their 18 industrial units. After this Haji Maqsood Ahmad never looked back and since then has achieved the distinction of being the highest selling Caltex Distributor in Punjab and NWFP.
In 2001 Caltex Pakistan also offered their commercial segment distribution to Haji Maqsood Ahmad under the name of “Caltex Star Shop”, a new commercial distribution segment to deal automobiles market. He has established a network of wholesalers and Mobilers (delivery van operators) to deliver the Caltex products to retailers at their doorstep so that end consumers get Caltex products easily. This new network model was a huge success and within couple of years Caltex Star Shop became one of the biggest names in commercial distributors segment in Pakistan.
In 2012 Caltex introduced a chain of oil change facilities “Xpress Lubes” across Pakistan to facilitate end consumers (Car owners) get genuine Caltex products. Haji Maqsood Ahmad established state of the art facilities under the name of “Areesh Auto SPA” at PIA road and Bedian Road, with an aim to provide automobile customers car related services under one roof. These sites are rated one of the biggest sites across Pakistan, where you can get Oil change, car wash, Mechanical work, Accessories, wheel alignment and balancing etc. services.
After the demise of Haji Maqsood Ahmad in 2017 his son Muhammad Umar Maqsood take over the business and continued his legacy of exclusive Caltex distribution network in Pakistan. Over the years company has evolved and got multiple recognition awards from Caltex Pakistan now Chevron Pakistan Lubricants (Pvt) Limited.
The prime reason of longtime affiliation with Caltex is the persistent quality of its lubricants, as well as Caltex belief in building relationships with the channel partners (distributors), which is the ideal recipe for a long-term partnership. The success of the company is that Pakistan lubricants industry has come a long way from unorganized oligopoly to a highly competitive market. As a result of which, resellers need to become more and more customer focused, thriving to go an extra mile to delight them.
